By Fr. Timothy Kallaher (written for DCWC)
All-powerful and ever-loving God, you are the author of all life. In the beginning you created a world wrought with your beauty and made Adam and Eve the parents of all humanity. Like a mother, you nourished the children of Israel; like a father, you taught them to walk in your ways. Your Son redeemed the children of Adam and Eve and proclaimed that unless we become like little children we may enter the kingdom.
We pray for children throughout the world. As Rachel wept for her children, so we cry today for the children who are abandoned and lonely, for those who are ill and hungry, for those who are mistreated and neglected, for those who are abused and murdered.
Mighty God, stir up the hearts and hands of your people to make our world a place of welcome and a loving home for all your children. We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
