For several days in late March and early April, workshops were held at the home of DCWC Board Member and Easter Baskets Project Chair, Ruth Galyon. Items which had been collected at the DCWC St. Pat Party — baskets, grass, ribbons, eggs, candy, toys, and other articles — were all used by DCWC workshop volunteers in the assembly of Easter Baskets, to be donated to homeless children.

In addition, essential items such as towels, wash cloths, toothbrushes, and hygiene items were purchased using funds contributed by DCWC members and friends. These, together with donated purses, blankets, Easter candy, and other items were all assembled into Gift Bags for mothers whose homes were lost in the May 2019 tornado.

Over 100 delightful Easter Baskets and Gift Bags were prepared, transported, and donated for children and mothers temporarily staying at the St. Vincent de Paul Gateway Shelter and the Kettering Commons Shelter, in time for Easter. All DCWC Members are encouraged to participate in similar much-needed charitable activities throughout the year, to help those in need in the Miami Valley Community.

Nearly 120 ladies attended the DCWC St. Patrick's Day Card/Game Party and Luncheon, held on March 7 at the Presidential Banquet Center in Kettering. DCWC Board Member and St. Pat Party Chair, Julianne McCain, was delighted with the turnout for the annual event, which was declared a huge success! DCWC Members and Guests spent an enjoyable day playing card games, board games, and bingo, and feasting on a delicious lunch, while socializing with friends. Unique gift items were available for sale by vendors, and forty-six lucky ladies walked away with Raffle Prizes and Gift Chance Prizes.

Julianne expressed her deep appreciation for the generous spirit of all who participated, and she was especially thrilled to see the many hundreds of items which DCWC members and guests donated for use in the annual DCWC Easter Baskets Project.

Proceeds from the St. Pat Party will be used to help fund the DCWC Scholarships and Charitable Grants which are awarded each year, to assist those in need throughout the Miami Valley Community.

For several days in December, workshops were held at the home of DCWC Board Member and Christmas Stockings Project Chair, Ruth Galyon. Items which had been collected at the DCWC Christmas Luncheon — stockings, stuffed animals, toys, games, hats, gloves, candy, and other articles — were all used by DCWC workshop volunteers in the stuffing of Christmas Stockings, to be donated to homeless children.

In addition, essential items, such as robes, linens, lotions, and hygiene items were purchased using funds contributed by DCWC members and friends. December 2019 - DCWC Christmas Boutique and Luncheon

Over 350 DCWC Members and their Guests gathered for the Dayton Catholic Women's Club Christmas Boutique and Luncheon, held on December 7 at the Presidential Banquet Center in Kettering. DCWC Board Member and Christmas Luncheon Chair, Ruth Galyon, was extremely pleased with the turnout for the annual event, which is the Club's social highlight of the season. DCWC Members and Guests spent their morning at the Christmas Boutique greeting old friends, shopping for unique gift items, browsing the many booths of handcrafted wares, and viewing the many lovely donated Christmas Raffle prizes on display.

The Luncheon Program was formally opened with the Presentation of the Colors by the Miami Valley Young Marines, and the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. Following a warm welcome from DCWC President, Lisa Nussman, everyone relaxed and visited at their tables in the Ballroom, while savoring a delicious lunch, dessert and coffee, and musical entertainment. The final high point of the afternoon was the drawing of the lucky winning tickets for over 80 very special donated Christmas Raffle prizes.

Ruth was extremely pleased to see the many familiar faces of the Luncheon attendees, both DCWC Members and Guests, who return every year to enjoy the day, greet old friends, and relish the traditional Christmas festivities. She marveled at the generosity and caring spirit of all who participated, and she was especially thrilled to see the many hundred of items which DCWC members and their guests donated for use in the annual DCWC Christmas Stockings Project.

Proceeds from the Christmas Luncheon will be used to help fund the DCWC Scholarships and Charitable Grants which are awarded each year, to assist those in need throughout the Miami Valley Community.
