History of Dayton Catholic Women's Club

  • National Catholic Welfare Conference was formed by Archbishops in Washington DC

  • Msgr. Gressle and Miss Ida Pflaum worked with women of Dayton to form the Dayton Council of Catholic Women. Annual Events Begin: Day of Recollection, Annual Card Party, and Christmas Luncheon. The Needlework Guild was known for making and donating layettes & clothing to Catholic Social Services.

  • Name changed to "The Dayton Catholic Women's Club" to avoid confusion with the Deanery and Archdiocesan Council of Catholic Women.

  • Dayton Daily News states “the DCWC is one of the largest groups in the city with philanthropy for children as its object.”

  • First website set up by Maxine Brooks, President.

  • Annual Scholarship Fund established with a generous donor who gives yearly.

  • A Long-range Plan was set in place which modified our motto, vision and parts of our Constitution and also established our Standing Committees.

  • Spring Luncheon recognizes Scholarship and Grant Recipients

  • Covid19 hits and Christmas Boutique held via mail and proceeds remain close to in-person goals. St. Patty’s Card Party was held via mail and donations were generous.
